Daniel Parvin, Coach & Friend

davidOn my right wrist is a purple band, Logan’s favorite color, and written in white is the date this world lost everyone’s best friend. Logan was a friend to everyone he met, and give him 10 minutes and he would become your best friend. That’s what happened to me the day I met Logan on the practice fields at Palm Harbor University High School. I was an assistant coach for the varsity football team. Logan saw me, the new guy, and came barreling up to me to introduce himself. Logan and I had a very unique relationship that blossomed from coach/player to friends to big brother/little brother. Logan told me on more than one occasion that I was the big brother he wish he had, and in a way, I think I was. I don’t wear my purple band in memory of Logan, because Logan is impossible to forget. Instead, I wear my purple band to remind myself to stop and smile and to reach out to someone in need. On those extra hard days, when the world seems stacked against me, I can look at my wrist and smile for no reason, because I know that’s what Logan would have done. When I find myself smiling for no reason, I know that’s Logan. I know he is right there with me, making me smile, like he always has and always will.
